Poof

I swear,
you were standing just there,
and then poof.
Just proof of my delusion,
or was it something I didn’t do?
I’m more than just confused,
when once we lived in our shared consciousness.
Pleasurable torture in our thoughts,
in the corners of our minds.

And in your eyes, I...

Two cars in the same train,
chugging along the tracks.
Then I looked back and saw you derailed, detached.
You...left.
Sculpted me into Lucifer, then to Hades.
Said “You’re too good for me.”
But my boy, you were lost.
All I needed was for you to see me,
but you disappeared into the trees as if it were nothing.

So in your eyes, I see...

Only free in your dreams.
You run from future despair,
from the wild seed you sowed,
and the children of rage, with me, you bore.
Still, how could I hate you?
You’ve shown me Neverland–
No never again.

When in your eyes I’ve seen...

The dire condition of humanity.
And in mine, you couldn’t bear to see the same.
But I felt it.
I felt you.

And if you’re the wind,
allow your breeze to blow upon me.
And make me feel as if it were real.

So in your eyes,
I turned nothing into something.

But in my eyes,
Just remnants of your smile.

So in your eyes,
I’ve seen the world.

And in mine...
Just rain in your black eyes.
